A closer look at La Carihuela.
The official tourism guide describes La Carihuela’s fishing origins and the streets and small houses that preserve part of that history. Today, restaurants, shops and visitor accommodation share the coastal setting, giving a property here a different context from the upper town centre.
The promenade provides a useful way to orient yourself: heading west leads towards El Saltillo and then Benalmádena’s marina, while the opposite direction reaches the headland separating this stretch from Bajondillo. Walk the section nearest each property to judge the surroundings directly.
For a home search, the exact relationship with that public frontage matters. An apartment above a restaurant, one in a side street and a home set within a larger community may have different light, privacy and activity around them. Spend time inside the rooms, not just on the promenade.
When viewing a property.
- Visit at lunchtime and in the evening where nearby restaurants or terraces influence the immediate setting.
- Check the full entrance and lift route; a beachside position does not itself establish step-free access.
- Clarify garage rights or rental arrangements and assess terrace privacy from neighbouring balconies and public areas.
Your local questions.
Is La Carihuela part of Benalmádena?
La Carihuela is a Torremolinos neighbourhood. Its promenade continues west towards El Saltillo and Benalmádena’s marina, but proximity does not change the municipal location.
Is every home here directly on the promenade?
No. Ask for the precise position and entrance. Side streets and larger residential communities should be assessed separately from frontline apartments.
